Regulated Waste & Environmental Support

Environmental Services

Asbestos and hazardous material projects generate regulated waste that must be classified, transported and disposed of through approved pathways, with records kept end to end.

Hazclear Environmental, as an Environmental Authority holder, coordinates regulated waste disposal, transport and waste tracking so that material is removed from your site through compliant channels and properly documented.

What Hazclear delivers for regulated waste and environmental projects

Asbestos and hazardous material projects generate regulated waste that must be classified, transported and disposed of through approved pathways under the Environmental Protection Act 1994 (Qld) and the Environmental Protection Regulation 2019 (Qld). Hazclear coordinates compliant disposal from site to licensed facility, with full waste tracking and closeout documentation.

Regulated Waste Disposal

Classification and disposal of asbestos and contaminated material through licensed facilities.

Waste Transport Coordination

Transport arranged through curated supply chain of licensed regulated-waste carriers.

Waste Tracking

Waste tracking certification for regulated waste from site to disposal.

Closeout Records

Disposal dockets and documentation for your project and compliance records.

What We Handle

Material and Waste Streams

wrapped asbestos waste.

Asbestos Waste

Bonded and friable asbestos waste -wrapped, labelled and transported under Environmentally Relevant Activity ERA 57 (Regulated Waste Transport) and disposed of at appropriately authorised receiving facilities under the Environmental Protection Act 1994 (Qld).

Lead & Contaminated Soil

Lead-impacted soil (regulated waste), asbestos-contaminated earth and imported fill — classified, sampled and tracked through licensed disposal pathways under current contaminated-land and waste-tracking requirements.

Fire & Flood Debris

Debris from fire-damaged and flood-affected structures — assessed, contained and remediated under the WHSQ fire-damaged buildings guidance note.

Our Waste Management Process

  • We classify all waste according to type, category and the relevant Schedule 9 thresholds
  • We ensure all regulated waste is double-wrapped, labelled and contained to the required standards before it leaves site
  • We coordinate transport through our supply chain of licensed ERA 57 regulated waste carriers with full waste tracking

Our Documentation & Closeout Process

  • We complete all waste tracking certificates and submit tracking data to the Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI)
  • We dispose of all material at facilities licensed to accept the specific waste category
  • We compile disposal dockets, tracking records and validation results and provide them for your project file

Classification Determines the Disposal Pathway

  • Hazclear operates as an Environmental Authority holder (Licence No. PEA100505641) for the transport and disposal of regulated waste in Queensland.
  • All regulated waste is managed under the Environmental Protection Act 1994 (Qld) and the Environmental Protection Regulation 2019 (Qld).
  • Asbestos waste handling follows the How to Safely Remove Asbestos Code of Practice 2021 (Qld) and the WHS Regulation 2011 (Qld).
  • Waste is classified against Schedule 9 categories and thresholds before transport to ensure correct disposal pathways are followed.
  • Waste tracking documents the movement of all regulated waste from site to licensed receival facility as required under Part 9 of the Environmental Protection Regulation 2019.
  • Hazclear provides all waste tracking certificates, disposal dockets and closeout records so your project file is complete and audit-ready.

Common questions (FAQ)

Regulated waste is commercial or industrial waste listed under Schedule 9 of the Environmental Protection Regulation 2019 (Qld) that requires a higher level of management to prevent harm to human health or the environment. Asbestos is classified as Category 2 regulated waste and lead as Category 1. Asbestos-contaminated soil, fire debris containing asbestos and any material contaminated with a Schedule 9 substance must be handled, transported and disposed of through approved regulated waste pathways.

Yes. Hazclear holds an Environmental Authority and can coordinate the classification, transport and licensed disposal of regulated waste generated by other removal contractors or trades. Not all contractors and waste carriers hold the required ERA 57 authority to transport regulated waste. Using an unlicensed carrier is an offence under the Environmental Protection Act 1994 (Qld). We ensure every load is transported by a licensed carrier with correct waste tracking, so your project remains fully compliant from site to disposal.

Requirements for moving or disposing of contaminated soil depend on the material classification, site history, contaminated-land status (including any EMR or CLR listing), the receiving facility and any project-specific approval or audit requirements. Hazclear coordinates the applicable sampling, waste classification, waste tracking and regulated-waste transport pathway, with suitably qualified environmental professionals or auditors engaged where required.

Hazclear’s licensed asbestos assessors are engaged to inspect, assess and classify asbestos-containing materials as friable or non-friable. This classification determines the removal licence class required, the level of controls, the waste category and the disposal pathway. Getting this classification right at the outset is critical — it dictates every step that follows from removal through to receival at the licensed facility.
